Hanuman Chalisa Prayer Translated into English

  • Washing the mirror of my mind with the dust of my revered Guru's lotus feet, I now tell the pure glory of Lord Shri Ram
  • he is the bestower of the four fruits of life: Dharma (righteousness), Artha (wealth), Kama (desire), and Moksha (salvation).
  • O Son of the Wind! Recognizing my own frailty in both body and intellect, I turn to you in remembrance.
  • Bestow upon me physical strength, wisdom, and true knowledge; and thereby dispel all my sorrows and faults.
  • Hail to you, Shri Hanuman—the boundless ocean of wisdom and virtue!
  • Hail to you, O Lord of the Monkeys Your fame resounds throughout the three worlds.
  • You are the abode of incomparable power and the trusted messenger of Lord Shri Ram.
  • You are known as the son of Mother Anjani and the Son of the Wind God.
  • O Great Hero You possess infinite valor.
  • You dispel evil thoughts and are the true friend of those endowed with pure and noble intellect.
  • Your complexion is golden-hued, and you are adorned in beautiful garments. The earrings gracing your ears and your curly locks further enhance your magnificent appearance.
  • You hold a mace and a banner in your hands, while a sacred thread  made of  grass graces your shoulder with its splendor.
  • O Incarnation of Lord Shiva! O Son of King Kesari! The entire universe bows in reverence to your valor, your glory, and your magnificence.
  • You are the master of all knowledge, a repository of virtues, and a being of supreme skill and intellect. You remain ever-ready and eager to fulfill the missions of Lord Shri Ram.
  • You derive immense joy from listening to the glorious deeds of Lord Shri Ram. Within the sanctuary of your heart reside Lord Shri Ram, Shri Lakshman, and Mother Sita.
  • To Mother Sita, you revealed yourself in a diminutive form; yet, to destroy Ravana's Lanka, you assumed a colossal and terrifying form.
  • By assuming that formidable form, you annihilated the demons, thereby bringing to fruition the divine mission of Lord Shri Ram.
  • By bringing the Sanjeevani herb, you saved the life of Shri Lakshman; in his overwhelming joy, Lord Shri Ram embraced you tightly to his heart. Lord Shri Ram praised you highly and declared, “You are as dear to me as Bharat himself.”
  • “Adishesha, the King of Serpents with a thousand heads, sings of your glory!” Thus spoke Lord Shri Ram (the consort of Goddess Lakshmi) as He embraced you to His heart.
  • The sages beginning with Sanaka, the deities led by Brahma, the sage Narada, Mother Saraswati, and Adishesha—
  • Even the God of Death (Yama), the God of Wealth (Kubera), and the Digpalas (the Guardians of the Ten Directions) have been unable to fully describe your greatness. How, then, could poets, scholars versed in the Vedas, or ordinary intellectuals ever hope to fathom its depths?
  • You bestowed a great favor upon Sugriva as well; you introduced him to Lord Shri Ram, thereby helping him regain his kingdom of Kishkindha.
  • Similarly, Vibhishana heeded your counsel and became the King of Lanka—a fact known to the entire world.
  • You swallowed the Sun God—who resides thousands of yugas and miles away—mistaking him for a sweet fruit.
  • That you crossed the ocean with Lord Shri Ram’s signet ring held within your mouth is, in truth, no cause for astonishment.
  • By your grace, even the most arduous tasks in this world become effortless.
  • You serve as the Gatekeeper at the portal of Lord Shri Ram; without your permission, no one is granted entry there—signifying that the privilege of beholding Lord Ram is attainable only through your blessings.
  • Those who seek refuge in you attain every form of happiness; indeed, when you stand as their protector, fear and dread cease to exist entirely.
  • Only you possess the capacity to contain your own immense radiance; at the sound of your mighty roar, the three realms tremble in awe.
  • O Mahavir (Great Hero)! The mere remembrance of your name keeps ghosts, spirits, and malevolent entities at bay.
  • O Valiant Hanuman! The continuous chanting of your name eradicates all manner of diseases, suffering, and afflictions.
  • Those who meditate upon and contemplate Lord Shri Hanuman—in thought, word, and deed—are, through His grace, liberated from all the hardships and tribulations of life. The ascetic King, Lord Shri Ram, is the Supreme Being, and You fulfill the aspirations of all those who seek refuge in Him.
  • Whosoever brings their desires before You ultimately attains boundless and supreme rewards in life.
  • Your glory permeates all four cosmic ages. Your greatness is renowned far and wide, shining brilliantly throughout the entire universe.
  • You are the protector of saints and sages, the destroyer of demons, and the most beloved and cherished devotee of Lord Shri Ram.
  • You have received a divine boon from Mother Janaki, empowering You to bestow upon anyone the eight Siddhis (supernatural powers) and the nine Nidhis (treasures).
  • You possess the divine elixir—the essence of devotion—embodied in the holy name of Shri Ram. May You forever remain the devoted servant of Raghupati (Lord Shri Ram).
  • The mere remembrance of Your name leads one to attain Lord Shri Ram Himself; for anyone who remembers You becomes exceedingly dear to Lord Shri Ram and is liberated from the sufferings accumulated over countless lifetimes.
  • Those who sing Your praises ascend to the divine abode of Raghunath at the moment of their passing; and should they take birth again in any realm, they are recognized as true devotees of Ram.
  • Indeed, one attains all forms of happiness and fulfillment simply by worshipping Shri Hanuman, even without offering worship to any other deity.
  • O Valiant Hanuman! For the person who remembers You, all troubles vanish, and every form of suffering is completely alleviated.
  • O my Master, Shri Hanuman! Glory be to You—glory, glory, and victory! As our Supreme Guru, please grace us with Your benevolence and bestow Your blessings upon us.
  • Whosoever recites this Hanuman Chalisa one hundred times is liberated from all worldly bondage and attains the state of supreme bliss.
  • For the one who reads this Hanuman Chalisa, every endeavor meets with success; Lord Shiva Himself stands as the divine witness to this truth.
  • Tulsidas prays: O Hanuman, may I forever remain the humble servant and devotee of Lord Shri Ram, and may You eternally reside within the sanctuary of my heart.
  • O Son of the Wind, You are the destroyer of all sorrows; You are the very embodiment of good fortune and prosperity.
  • You are Lord Shri Ram, Shri Lakshman...
  • Please dwell within my heart, alongside Lakshman Ji and Mother Sita.
